Green Idli Bites are quick and easy evening tiffin or tea time snack, if you have left over idlies or Idli batter in your hand. These nice looking green idli bites are done with whole flavour of mint and coriander that adds goodness of greens. You can serve this along with some toppings of sev or with chaat masala which gives a different taste and flavour. Trust your imagination to come up with innovative serving options.
Ingredients:
- Idlis - 2 nos
- Mint Leaves
- Coriander leaves
- Green or Red Chilly - 1 no
- Ginger grated - 1 tsp
- Coconut grated - 1 tbsp (optional)
- Lemon - 1/2 size
- Onion - 1 small size
- Mustard - 1 tsp
- Channa Dal - 1 tsp
- Urad Dal - 1tsp
- curry leaves - 1 sprig
- Oil - 2 tbsp
- Salt as per taste
- Grind mint, coriander leaves along with ginger, chilly, coconut to a smooth paste. keep it aside.
- In a pan add Oil followed by chopped onion, channa dal, urad dal, curry leaves. saute everything for a while and then add the ground paste. add some salt for the paste only.
- Let the paste cook for a while.
- Then add the cubed Idlies and mix with the green paste nicely.
- Finally squeeze the lemon extract over the idli bites, give a quick saute and switch off the flame.

Notes :
- If you do not like a tangy taste, avoid lemon.
- Add only less salt for only the paste. Idlis already having the salt content.
- You can even have these green idlis along with fresh curd.
