Poosanikai Buttermilk / Ashgourd Buttermilk


      Nutritional Benefits:

Ash-gourd/Poosanikai is loaded with nutrients. It’s an excellent source of vitamin B1 , a good source of vitamin B3 , and vitamin C. It is also rich in many minerals like calcium. Its high potassium content makes this a good vegetable for maintaining a healthy blood pressure.
Containing almost 96% water, this gourd is a dietitian’s delight. Be sure to include this vegetable in your weight-loss diet.
Butter Milk:
  • Buttermilk is a rich source of calcium, a cup containing about 250 mg, about 218 mg phosphorus and 370 mg potassium.
  • It helps safeguard against summer heat and prevents sun strokes. 
  • A glass of buttermilk with your midday meals improves digestion and keeps you cool.
Poosanikai Butter milk or commonly said as Poosani Moru which helps you to reduce excess heat in your body and keeps cool.

Ingredients:
  • Ash gourd - 1 cup
  • Curd/Buttermilk - 1 cup
  • Curry leaves - 1 sprig
  • Cumin/Jeera - 1 pinch
  • Ginger grated - 1/4 tbsp
  • Green Chilli - 1/4 part
  • Coriander leaves
  • Salt as per taste

Method:

Take a fresh Ash gourd, remove the skin and clean it.



Take the Ingredients shown below and transfer to a blender and grind till smooth paste. Add some more water and salt, grind till you get a juicy consistency. 


Transfer to a bowl or tumbler and add coriander leaves and cumin seeds. Stir well and keep it for about 10 mins and have it. ( If you do not wish to grind green chilles, just cut into small pieces and add it finally). It serves upto 2 tumblers. 



Note: 

If you are affected by seasonal cold, or cold related diseases its better avoid this Ashgourd buttermilk.
