Soya chunks / Meal Maker Fry

Soya chunks fry is one of my favourite recipe. It is very easy to prepare. whenever I don't find any of the vegetables in my home, my only choice is Soya/mealmaker.

Ingredients:
  • Soya chunks / Meal Maker - 1 cup
  • Onion - 1 medium size
  • Ginger Garlic Paste - 1 tbsp
  • Fennel / sombu - 1 tsp
  • Grated Coconut - 1tbsp
  • Sambar powder - 2 tsp
  • Curry leaves - 1 sprig
  • Coriander leaves for Garnishing
  • Oil - 2 tbsp
  • Salt as per taste
Method:

Take 1 cup of soya chunks and add to a cooking pan and bring it to boil. Once the bubbles appear switch off the stove and close with a lid for about 5 to 10 minutes.

Then open the lid and squeeze the water out from the soya and transfer to another bowl.

Make the Ingredients ready which is shown below. Take a frying pan add oil, fennel, ginger garlic paste and then add onion and curry leaves one after another and saute. It gives a nice aroma of fennel and Ginger garlic paste. Now add the soya and saute for a minute.

At this stage add the sambar powder and salt and saute till it turns to golden brown color. Saute in medium low flame. It takes about 5 to 8 minutes. Finally add grated coconut and saute for another 2 minutes so that the coconut gets fried well. Garnish with Coriander leaves.

Notes :

  • Home made Sambar powder is preferrable.
  • Instead of Sambar powder you can use coriander and red chilli powder.
